Summer's in full swing and the list of special events just continues to grow! Weddings, Proms, Race Days.. our diary is just jam-packed! Special occasions requires extra special hair, so our Style Team took a trip down to our friends at Red Mall's Foxy Hair Extensions for one fabulous Foxy makeover.

After a consultation with the Foxy stylists, they will choose the best suited tones and lengths for your current hairstyle. For the incredible 'hair-over' we decided to let the Foxy girls loose on Rachel from our very own Style Team! For Rachel's makeover they advised on using 20 inches Colour 6 - Chocolate Brown clip-in extensions (20 inches being the most popular length with Foxy customers).

Foxy Stylist Angelica talked us through the installation of hair extensions and how it differs between short and longer haired clients. For today's looks we followed the easy to follow tips given to each customer on installing extensions in long hair.

BACK

Angelica began by straightening and smoothing out Rachel's wavy hair to make the clips easier to install. To ensure the clips are secure and stay in the hair, the hair is backcombed at the roots and sprayed with hairspray. The extensions are clipped into the bottom of the hair, beginning at the back and work up towards the top.

The hair is first styled by straightening all the layers individually to blend both extensions and real hair together.

Once all extensions are clipped into place, depending on the client's original hairstyle, the pieces are cut and shaped to suit the customer's preferred look. Rachel had her hair feathered at the front to match her original layers.

THE FINISHED LOOK - STYLISH & STRAIGHT.

With so many weddings, proms and race days coming up over the summer, we at the intu Metrocentre Style Team wanted to know how we could style the new extensions to suit these special occasions.

With loose curls being a major hair trend this season and braided hair being incredibly popular with festival goers, Angelica suggested a mix of both styles. Not only will the look be fresh and youthful, it's perfect for teaming with an amazing fascinator or hat for those big summer events.

We LOVED Foxy's technique of curling both extensions and real hair. By twirling the hair once around the straighteners and pulling down to the ends, the hair transforms into beautiful bouncy curls.

This was continued around the head to get lovely loose locks that will not drop.

Once the hair was fully curled, the Foxy team braided one side of the hair to join with the curls draping on the other side. With many loops and pins, the team created a fabulous flower effect in Rachel's hair - an INCREDIBLE look for any special occasion.
