Commemorating WW1 and 100 years of British and Allied Forces

Date: 02 Aug 2014 - 03 Aug 2014

intu Metrocentre invites you to join us in commemoration of all those who were involved in WW1 and subsequent conflicts.  The weekend will include a range of displays, activities, memorabilia and entertainment.

Shoppers will be able to purchase Poppy Crosses to lay at the Garden of Remembrance in the Centre.  These will then be transferred to the official Garden of Remembrance in Saltwell Park in the run up to Remembrance Day.

At 2pm on Monday 4th August, intu Metrocentre’s Chaplain Lyn Jamieson will hold a public WW1 Commemorative Drumhead Service in Exhibition Square. Following the service, Ian Proud from the Royal British Legion will start a 100 mile ‘Honour Run’ through intu Metrocentre on behalf of the five service charities.

Supporting The Royal British Legion, The Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity, The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, SSAFA and the ABF Soldiers Charity.
